ImageBuck Knives Introduces Versatile New GamutTM Utility Knife

Innovative new folding knife defies categories, but is sure to fill many needs

Post Falls
, Idaho   Some knives make it very obvious what they are meant for. A handy pocket knife. A fish fillet knife. A skinner with a gut hook. The new 460 Gamut from Buck Knives is definitely not one of those you can easily hang a label on, but it's sure to get attention – and many happy owners.

For starters, if you saw it for the first time locked open, you might assume it's a fixed-blade.  The comfortable handle that fits your hand so perfectly would reinforce your snap judgment. And the stainless steel guard is definitely not what you'd expect on a folder. The Gamut's partially serrated 3-7/8” clip blade is rock-solid, but it's also the tip-off when you see the thumb stud for easy one-hand opening.

First reactions are almost all very positive, with a range of use interpretations. It could be a good knife for your fishing gear bag, some say. It could be the perfect all-purpose camp knife, whether it's a serious base camp or the family's weekend in the woods; or a handy knife to cut open those hay bales. Or maybe because it's so easy to handle, so all-purpose, you just have to own one with no special use in mind. Of all the new Buck knives for '09, this one has captured the attention of more different kinds of knife enthusiasts than any other because of its versatility.

The Gamut's sharp-tip clip blade is made of  420J2 stainless steel and is finished with Buck's exclusive Edge2xTM technology, which makes the blade sharper out of the box, hold an edge longer and easier to
re-sharpen.  It locks safely open with Buck's reliable mid-lock mechanism. The handle has a solid thermoplastic base with textured, soft rubber overmold for sure, anti-slip grip.

Locked open, Buck's new Gamut is 8-1/2” long, closes to a compact 4-5/8” and weighs just 4.5 oz. It comes with a heavy-duty nylon carrying sheath with drainage holes, and also has a lanyard hole with cord. Like all Buck knives, it is backed by their respected Forever Warranty. MSRP is an appealing $35.
