Fiocchi Team With The Industry's Best In Launching Two New .308 Loads

New .308 Offerings in Fiocchi’s Extrema Line Contain Only the Best Components
In keeping with its more than 130-year-old tradition of selecting only the finest components for its products, Fiocchi Ammunition has engineered two new .308 Win. Cartridges. Utilizing the high-performance SST™ bullet, the new Extrema rifle hunting line loads are the 308HSA .308 Win. cartridge loaded with the 150-grain SST bullet, and the 308HSC loaded with the 180-grain SST bullet. To achieve an extreme level of performance for hunters the SST bullets are combined with Fiocchi’s precision-drawn cases and reliable primers, and the industry’s best powder.
Fiocchi chose the SST bullet for its two new .308 Win. loads, since it offers the savvy hunters who choose to use it several distinct in-the-field advantages — a premium polymer tip, a secant ogive, boattail spire point profile, and the InterLock™ ring. The polymer tip increases the SST’s ballistic coefficient, making it travel faster with a flatter ballistic curve. On impact with game, the polymer tip initiates controlled expansion at all velocities. The secant ogive, boattail spire point profile offers bullets that travel faster, hit harder and deliver incredible downrange energy that brings down game. The InterLock ring ensures the bullet core and jacket remain locked during expansion, so the SST retains the mass and energy needed to produce a dramatic wound channel to ensure a clean kill. The ballistics of Fiocchi’s new Extrema .308 Win. loads bear out their dramatic level of extreme performance.
The Fiocchi .308 HSA with the 150-grain SST bullet leaves the muzzle at 2,820 fps (from a 24-inch barrel). At 100-yards it loses little momentum, still cutting the air at 2,610 fps. In terms of energy, the 150-grain load pushes out of the muzzle at 2,650 ft./lbs. and at 100 yards it still produces 2,270 ft./lbs. Similarly, the Fiocchi .308 HSC loaded with the 180-grain bullet leaves a 24-inch barrel at 2,620 fps and loses little speed at 100 yards while still moving at a swift 2,240 fps. At the muzzle, the 180-grain load delivers a commanding 2,745 ft./lbs. and still delivers an impressive 2,350 ft./lbs. at 100 yards.
