Annette Aysen of 'Team Smith & Wesson' wins Limited Lady Title Aysen Receives Honor For Second Time at ICORE International Postal Match
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 14, 2008) – Smith & Wesson Corp., announced today that Team Smith & Wesson member Annette Aysen earned the Top Lady Limited title for the second consecutive year as part of the 7th International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts (ICORE) International Postal Match. This year’s match was conducted at 30 clubs across three countries and featured 347 shooters in two divisions. Aysen, who competed in the Limited Division, contended against 221 shooters from across the United States, Australia and Switzerland. As part of the annual match, each competitor competed at various ranges throughout the three countries in accordance with ICORE rules. The match consisted of four stages of fire involving stationary targets as competitors were judged on both speed and accuracy. Upon completion of the match, competitors mailed in their scores to the ICORE main offices over the designated period. “One of the great things about this match is that each competitor sees where they rank against a large field of opponents,” said Annette Aysen, member of Team Smith & Wesson. “By keeping the match simple, more competitors have the chance to get involved because fewer props are needed and the match can be conducted almost anywhere.” Aysen completed the International Postal Match at the Southern Shooting Center in her hometown of Thibodaux, Louisiana. While competing, Aysen used her Smith & Wesson Model 627 revolver to win her second Top Lady Limited title. During the 2007 season, Aysen earned two American Handgunner titles and placed second in the women’s division at the International Revolver Championships. A revolver shooter at heart, Aysen has always enjoyed the challenges of competitive shooting. “After taking a break from competitive shooting for a few years, I realized how much I had enjoyed the sport,” said Aysen, “While I treasured the time I spent with my family during that period, I couldn’t change the fact that I felt like there was something missing. Shooting has always been a big part of my life and it has always provided me that extra challenge. It is nice to see that so many people are getting out and enjoying that same opportunity, as reflected in ICORE membership increases each year. This is truly a sport that anyone can get involved in.” About Smith & Wesson Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation, a global leader in safety, security, protection and sport, is parent company to Smith & Wesson Corp., one of the world’s largest manufacturers of quality firearms and firearm safety/security products and parent company to Thompson/Center Arms, Inc., a premier designer and manufacturer of premium hunting rifles, black powder rifles, interchangeable firearms systems and accessories under the Thompson/Center brand.
