ImageBrownells® to Hold Second Annual

With the enormous success of last year's event, Brownells® will hold the second annual Gunsmithing Job Fair April 11-12.  Due to a significant increase in participation, the 2008 job fair will be held at the Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa.

Schools attending the job fair include Montgomery Community College, in Troy, N.C., Murray State College, in Tishomingo, Okla., Trinidad State Junior College, in Trinidad, Colo., and Yavapai College, in Prescott, Ariz.  Additionally, the 2008 Gunsmithing Job Fair will be open to the general gunsmithing community.

"The feedback we received following the first Gunsmiths Job Fair was just tremendous," said Frank Brownell, company chairman and CEO.  "Many young gunsmiths have only experienced the industry through the classroom and their instructors.  The job fair provides them with an opportunity to learn from an array of gunsmiths with centuries of total experiences and interact with their peers."

Attendees will be able to meet and interview with numerous employers and vendors on-site the first day of the event.  Employers scheduled to attend include:

  • Ahlman's
  • Les Baer Custom
  • Nowlin Manufacturing
  • Turnbull Restoration
  • Volquartsen Custom
  • STI International
  • Army Marksmanship Unit
  • Caspian Arms
  • Gander Mountain
  • Cylinder and Slide Shop
  • Ed Brown Products
  • Power Custom
  • Springfield Armory Custom Shop
  • Taurus
  • Brownells
  • Sinclair
  • Wichita Arms
  • Wilson Combat
  • Forster Products
  • DPMS
  • Carlson's

Also on April 11, legislative counsel for the National Rifle Association and an agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are scheduled to speak to students and gunsmiths on the legal concerns and trends in gunsmithing.

"Gunsmithing is a unique fraternity of craftsmen," company President Pete Brownell stated.  "We're thrilled to be able to provide attendees with an opportunity to take the next step in their careers--whether they're a novice or an experienced gunsmith."

April 12 will be the event's breakout day.  Attendees will be able to shoot an array of firearms from the attending manufacturers and vendors at Brownells' Big Springs shooting facility near Grinnell, Iowa.
