Is there coffee in the house?

-- By Rochelle Kaplan

Attending a serious meeting on an empty stomach is not recommended, but who has time to hit the breakfast buffet in the hotel?  Plus, it can take you up to 15 minutes navigating through the penny slots just to find the door to the parking garage.  (Oh, Orlando, what a nice thought!)  Still, I would not let a growling stomach interfere with business.

I opened up my handy Floorplan Navigator and searched for the Zatarain’s booth.  Last time I was here, I made friends with the folks and made it a point to stop by often to allow their famous
Louisiana rice dishes to satiate my hunger. This time, they were nowhere to be found. Disappointed, I bee-lined for the firearms hall in search of some nifty sub-compact pistols.  CZ-USA www.cz-usa.com had just what I was looking for. The 2075 RAMI, a black poly-coated semi-auto, incorporates the company’s double-stack magazine design: 10 rounds of 9mm Luger or 8 rounds of .40 S&W, plus one in the chamber.  Its 3-inch barrel and unloaded weight of less than 25 ounces makes it ideal for concealed carry, especially for women.  For men, the 75D PCR 9mm sub-compact is a favorite, according to Angus Hobdell, CEO of CZ’s Custom Shop.  “The best thing about concealed carry is you have to carry it,” said Hobdell with a wink. He suggested adding CZ’s smooth custom wood grips to either sub-compact, “So they don’t snag on clothing.”

Partial to Kimber www.kimberamerica.com —I treated myself to a TLE .45 for my birthday last October—I hightailed it over to their booth by zigzagging through various obstacles, both human and inanimate.  What a splendid display!  My eyes immediately caught sight of the Ultra RCP II (Refined Carry Pistol), which Kimber calls “the smallest, lightest concealed carry 1911 ever manufactured.”  This beauty sports a rounded frame heel and blended edges to prevent hang-ups on clothing and holsters.  “It’s the best concealed carry we carry,” said Representative Ryan Busse.  I want one! Hmmm…I wonder if it’s legal in
California?

Smith & Wesson’s www.smith-wesson.com M&P .45 is also an effective compact pistol with a 4-inch barrel weighing
27.7 ounces empty, available in both black and dark earth brown polymer.  In fact, all of the M&P Series compacts sport shortened slides, barrels, and grip frames (including the dust cover).

Rochelle - you must have missed Sniper's Brew in the tents. Yup, the SHOT Show even have custom coffee exhibitors - and it was a great cup of coffee to boot!
