Continuing my march through the major hunting gun producers, I discovered that the Savagewww.savagearms.com110 Action turns 50 in 2008. This action has been used as the basis for the gunmaker’s Hunter, Classic, Weather Warrior, Varmint, Target, and Law Enforcement models through the years. To celebrate this milestone, Savage is offering a limited edition of 1,000 Model 110 rifles featuring gold-plated accents, high luster blued barrel, and other enhancements. The other new Savage product line that I noticed is the Model 25. Up to now, centerfire bolt actions have been measured in length: long action, short action, super-short action, etc. The Model 25 is different as it has been built on a slender, diameter-specific action built around the .223 bolthead dimension that is not only short, but also much smaller in diameter than a standard centerfire action. The result is a compact, lightweight action that is no bulkier than it needs to be to chamber the diminutive .223 Rem. and .204 Ruger cartridges. Available in Lightweight Varminter, Lightweight Varminter Thumbhole, and Classic Sporter configurations, all feature free-floated sleeved barrel, 60-degree bolt tilt, three locking lugs, dual pillar bedding, and the AccuTrigger. This of interest to those dealers who carry blackpowder firearms: Traditions Performance Firearmswww.traditionsfirearms.com has a new Outfitter model designed to switch quickly between muzzleloader, centerfire rifle and shotgun simply by changing barrels. Built around their break-top Pursuit action, the 24-inch barrels are drilled and tapped for optics and equipped with fiber-optic adjustable sights. Rifle calibers include .243 Win., .270 Win., 7mm/08 Rem., .308 Win., .30/06 Sprg., .45/70 Govt. and .444 Marlin. Shotgun barrels will be offered in 12 and 20 gauge. The 28-inch muzzleloading barrels are fluted and ported and feature a quick-release breech plug. The Outfitter will be available in standard or thumbhole stocks.
Following the same trend, Knight Rifleswww.knightrifles.com showed their new KP1 rifle that can be readily converted from a center fire, to rimfire to muzzleloader, all without tools on the same platform. Quote this article on your site | Views: 154
