SORE FEET AND FACE POWDER |

With sore feet and flagging energy, I managed to plod on through the remaining show aisles to find a few reloading gems.
In the Lapua www.kaltronoutdoors.com booth, I picked up Edition 6 of the Vihta Vuori Reloading Guide. For 2008, the guide has been updated to include revised loading data for a number of cartridges. And the handgun loading data now includes information on Cowboy Action Shooting loads.
A little more searching brought me into the Hodgdon Powder Company www.hodgdon.com booth. They have also brought out a new 2008 edition of their Reloading Manual, which lists 144 rifle and 81 pistol cartridge loads in an easy-to-read format. Hodgdon also has two new powders, Winchester Supreme 780 which allows handloaders to duplicate Winchester factory loads and Hodgdon Hybrid 100V which combines the chemistry of spherical powder with the geometry of extruded propellants.
The Alliant Powder www.alliantpowder.com booth wasn’t too far away, so I stopped in to check out their new short magnum rifle powder. Carrying the name Reloader 17, this new powder reportedly increases projectile velocity both in standard and the new short magnum cartridge.
And in the Western Powders www.westernpowders.com booth I was able to get a copy of the new Ramshot (Edition 4.2) and the Accurate (Edition 3.2.2) loading guides. Both provided the latest data on loading Ramshot and Accurate powder.
Finally, I discovered three manufacturers of automatic ammo loading systems. GSI International www.gsiinternational.com produces a rotary bullet feed system for Dillon progressive loaders. Auto Load Worldwide makes a heavy production machine for commercial loaders. And Camdex www.camdexloader.com also make an automatic loader capable of spitting out a sizeable volume of loaded ammo.
In all, the 2008 SHOT show had once again been worth the agony of sore feet and the mental overload of seeing great new products. Certainly, the advancements in bullets, powers and gear exhibited at the show offer greater ballistic potential for the hand loader.
