HIPPIE SCRIBE CHECKS OUT the Retailer Pavilion |

Tuesday: Another day in sandals; my arthritis really didn’t like that day of wind and rain.
This morning I made a trip to the Retailer Pavilion. This is where companies with something to offer the retailer in the way of services were grouped together. All I can say is, if you didn’t stop here, you missed some good stuff. One of the big issues with POS systems in gun shops is their inability to handle Bound Book records. Celerant Technology Corp. www.celerant.com has come up with a full retail management system that they say encompasses POS, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), bookkeeping, Open-To-Buy, inventory management, data mining, e-commerce, and ATF reporting. I can’t speak to how well this system is going to work in a store environment, but if it comes even close to what the company says it will do, it’s certainly worth a look.
What really got my attention, though, was OutdoorSportsMarketingCenter.com www.outdoorsportsmarketingcenter.com. I’ve heard so many retailers say they don’t do (newspaper, magazine, Yellow Pages, Internet) advertising (you choose which one) because they can’t create an ad themselves and can’t afford to pay anyone else to do it. That excuse doesn’t hold water any more. Working with manufacturers, the company has created an online venue where retailers can access product information and ad templates and create sophisticated, professional ads, banners, shelf talkers, and point of purchase materials—free. The system even delivers the ad to the newspaper or other advertising medium of the retailer’s choice, and stores it on line so he can edit it and use it again later. This is a must-see for any retailer who wants to improve his bottom line.
The Original Muck Boot Company www.muckbootcompany.com is into the women’s market too—with pink and purple boots—more girlie colors. I guess if that’s what it takes to get women’s attention it’s a good marketing move, but I won’t be buying or wearing them. Have you figured out that I hate pink outdoors anything?
But I found one pink product I can get behind 100 percent. Security Equipment Corporation www.sabrered.com has a one-year contract with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to raise funds for research toward a cure for breast cancer. Security Equipment Corporation has packaged its Sabre Red compact keychain pepper spray in a pink package, and is making a donation to NBCF for every unit sold. I’m not making any sarcastic remarks about this one: Buy one for every woman you love and give it to her.
My last stop was at Foxy Huntress www.foxyhuntress.com, one of the leaders in creating stylish hunting clothes for women. Shelah Zmigrosky has continued her line of fashionable hunting and safari clothing. It’s a great line—hopefully this is another company that will continue to add momentum to the growing product category of women’s clothing. Quote this article on your site | Views: 134
