New Special Forces Short Magnum Slug from Brenneke® Designed for Maximum Penetration and Stopping Power
To address the growing need of law enforcement and military agencies for a shotgun slug offering maximum penetration and stopping power, BrennekeUSA has introduced the Special Forces Short Magnum. The SFSM is a 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch round, loaded with a massive 1 1/4 ounce slug. It is based upon Brenneke’s highly popular Heavy Field Short Magnum, which generates muzzle energy greater than many centerfire rifle cartridges—2538 foot pounds, at a velocity of 1476 feet per second. In independent testing utilizing FBI-spec ballistic gelatin, the Short Magnum’s penetration surpassed that of five leading competitors by up to 67%. Brenneke’s SFSM penetrated 34.9 inches of gelatin, while the nearest competitor could manage only 26 inches. Some slugs penetrated barely over 11 inches. Accuracy is outstanding, with the SFSM capable of five-shot groups as tight as 2.95 inches at 100 yards, 1.4 inches at 50 yards. It provides exceptional performance in both rifled and smoothbore shotgun barrels. The devastating penetration of Brenneke’s Special Forces Short Magnum makes it a superb round for close-in urban environments, where immediate stopping power up to 100 yards or beyond—even through vehicles—is critical. A distinctive red coating also helps keep barrel fouling to a minimum. Brenneke’s unique weight-forward design, massive frontal area, and harder metal alloys, perfected over 110 years, result in minimal deformation and maximum weight retention.
