ImageWeatherby® Representatives Honored For 2007 Sales Achievements

Weatherby® has announced its annual awards recognizing outstanding performance by firms and individuals in its marketing organization.

The awards, based on achievements during 2007, were made at the company's spring sales meeting held at Weatherby's headquarters in Paso Robles, Calif.

Remarking on the importance of the awards, Brad Ruddell, Weatherby's vice president of sales and marketing, said, "The awards have a direct relationship to the success of our company.  Our eight-point rating system is based on measurable results, such as dollar-volume increases and new customers, as well as subjective criteria dealing with support and service performance on a day-to-day basis.  We have an excellent sales organization, so having a top-notch system of evaluation really helps in selecting and recognizing the best of the best each year, and makes the awards more meaningful."

The year's winners included:

  • Representative Group of the Year--Mountain States Sports Marketing (MSSM).  MSSM has experienced consistent territory increases every year.  According to MSSM National Sales Manager Jimmy Nix, the consistent growth was achieved through "aggressive sales strategies coordinated with Weatherby's marketing goals."  The group is based in Colorado.
  • Representative of the Year--Dan Upham, H&G Marketing.  Upham has consistently increased sales, and distinguished himself in nearly all of Weatherby's rating criteria - despite competing against the growth and expansion of more than 20 mass merchants throughout his territory.  H&G Marketing is based in Minnesota.
  • Rookies of the Year--Matt Case, H&G Marketing; Jason Holcombe, Schooler Associates.  In less than a full year representing Weatherby, Case made significant contributions to Weatherby sales and the increased performance of his group.  Holcombe succeeded in booking 100 percent of the previous year's dealers, reactivated several previous dealers and signed multiple new dealers in his first year as a Weatherby representative.
  • Most New Accounts in 2007--Outdoor Marketing Group.  Headquartered in North Carolina, Outdoor Marketing representatives increased their number of new Weatherby accounts by more than 57 percent during 2007. "Account growth is key to any organization's health.  OMG targeted and focused their selling efforts, and clearly the results speak for themselves," said John Lutes, National Sales Manager for Weatherby.
  • Highest Territory Increase--Outdoor Marketing Group.  Outdoor Marketing Group easily surpassed all other representative groups with an increase in territory of nearly 60 percent.  The award supports the work and achievement OMG accomplished through their recognition of most new accounts.  "It requires a great deal of time and effort to increase a territory's performance the way OMG did," said Ruddell.  "This type of effort will pay long term rewards for not only Weatherby and OMG but it's shared customers as well."
  • Earned Your Spurs (EYS)--Doug Reiff, H&G Marketing.  Not an annual award, the EYS award is given based on qualitative as well as subjective criteria.  According to Lutes, "Doug's sales skills are some of the best I've ever seen, and I've know him most of my career.  He is a mentor to many members of our sales staff and a consistent source of valuable information to all he works with."

In addition to Ruddell and Lutes, Weatherby management participating in the event included Ed Weatherby, president and Bruce Dixon, executive vice president/chief financial officer.
