Springfield Armory CEO Dennis Reese and wife of American Sniper Chris Kyle, Taya Kyle, announced today a partnership to produce a limited edition run of a very unique Springfield Armory 1911 TRP pistol.

A portion of the proceeds from the Chris Kyle TRP Operator will go to benefit the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation. Started by Taya Kyle, the foundation aims to “honor God, country, and those who serve” by providing time and space to reconnect after deployment, support the family unit and provide new common ground after military involvement.

Upon being presented with the first Chris Kyle TRP Operator pistol in the Springfield Armory booth at SHOT Show, Taya Kyle immediately announced plans to donation the first serial numbered pistol to an auction to benefit the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation. She plans to promote the auction at the 2016 NRA Annual Meeting.

While serving in Afghanistan, Kyle carried a customized Springfield Armory 1911. In fact, on one occasion, one of his two Springfield Armory 1911 pistols protected him by stopping shrapnel that would have caused serious injury.

The limited edition run of TRP Operator pistols will be available in the May 2016 time frame. Each pistol will carry a serial number ranging from CK-0001 through CK-1000. Springfield Armory will outfit these special edition guns with features requested by Kyle for his personal 1911 including adjustable sights and G10 grips. The pistols will ship in a custom presentation box with challenge coin and copy of the book American Sniper signed by Taya Kyle.
