5 Great Products From Day One of SHOT Show

The author behind the new EOTech Vudu X scope.

SHOT Show is in full swing, and we’ve been combing the aisles looking for what’s new, interesting, innovative or just plain useful. When it comes to new products to stock in your store for 2024, we think these five items might end up being hot sellers.

EOTech Vudu X

EOTech’s Vudu line of traditional riflescopes has done tremendously well, but this year, EOTech is introducing the Vudu X models that come in at a little bit lower price point to target a different buyer. Features include aluminum construction, bright illuminated reticle, capped precision turrets, removeable throw lever on the magnification power ring, flip-up lens caps and clear, crisp glass with generous eye relief. Two models are available: A 2-12x40 for $859 MSRP and a 1-6x24 for $799. Both are second-focal-plane scopes with 30mm tubes. Fun fact: I killed the first animal ever taken with a Vudu X, a Montana elk in November 2023, so you’ll be hearing a lot more about this scope line in an upcoming issue.

Moultrie Mobile/Edge Pro2

Moultrie’s introduced a gen 2 version of its popular AI-driven Edge Pro camera. It seamlessly integrates with Moultrie’s excellent Moultrie Mobile app, picking up the best signal from any of the four major carriers without the need to swap SIM cards. The AI technology lets you select a target species, so while the camera will still take images of multiple species, it will sort and send you only pictures of what you want, filtering out all the racoons and squirrels and non-target species. It features 1080p true HD video, Live Aim that syncs with the app so you can see exactly what the camera sees as you’re mounting it (no more guessing where it’s pointing), and Smart Zones that let you remotely turn off zones of the camera that might get obstructed by grass that’s grown over, a tree limb that’s fallen partially into view, etc. It even has GPS and on-demand image capture. The EdgePro2 will be available this summer for an MSRP of just $139.

Mystery Ranch 3-Way 27 Expandable Briefcase

Briefcase, backpack or shoulder bag? Your customers who already love Mystery Ranch’s hunting packs will love this bag that’s all three of those in one. It’s got a ton of compartments, including a padded sleeve big enough for a 17-inch laptop, with durable Cordura fabric that helps it stand up to daily use and abuse. Handles on all sides make it easy to grab, and water-resistant YKK coated zippers protect your customers’ gear. The main compartment has a clam shell opening for easy access, and a luggage handle slot lets it slide down over rolling luggage for easy travel. The shoulder stap is removeable for when it’s in backpack mode, and the stowable shoulder pads let the user slip back into briefcase or shoulder bag mode without looking out of place. It comes in four colors in two sizes — an 18 for $199 MSRP and a 27 for $229 MSRP.

Muck Alpha Pursuit

For a long time, Muck Boots, which is known for their rubber/neoprene boots, has been getting requests to make a traditional leather hunting boot. Well, that’s not their style, but they have answered traditionalists with the new Alpha Pursuit. It’s got the shape of a traditional lace-up hunting boot but the upper is entirely neoprene, mostly covered in “Muck skin” to give it the abrasion resistance you’re looking for in a traditional hunting boot. This construction makes it exceptionally lightweight, and it just looks cool. Expect this to retail for $195, and Muck will be shipping them in July for fall 2024.

WileyX Founder

WileyX is undergoing a brand refresh, with a modern new logo and some cool new frame introductions to go with it. Among them is the Founder, a lifestyle-styled frame in the Active 6 series. They come with a variety of lenses depending on the user’s preference, starting as low as $140 for non-polarized. Though they look like casual-wear glasses with a bold, flat look, slots on the side allow for side shields (included) to be added or removed to achieve the desired look and level of protection. Of course, they’re ANSI rated for safety, and they’re available in prescription lenses as well.
