Weatherby Makes Big Changes To Its Rifle Lineup

Weatherby has made a huge change in its product line for 2016 and beyond, ending the run of its flagship rifle, the Mark V, while introducing the New Mark V, a platform that has undergone some significant design changes while remaining true to the high quality of the Weatherby brand.

The New Mark V line incorporates several models, including the New Mark V Accumark. At the 2016 SHOT Show, the New Mark V Accumark was on display and it is definitely a sleeker, more streamlined version of the old Mark V.

“We spend a good deal of time and energy making the New mark V fit the hunter and shooter better,” says Justin Moore, Weatherby’s director of marketing. “To do that, we narrowed the stock, made the comb a bit higher and gave the grip a slight palm swell.”

Like all New Mark V’s, the Accumark is outfitted with the new Weatherby LXX Trigger. The LXX Trigger boasts a wider trigger face to increase trigger-to-finger contact for a more consistent and comfortable pull. Adjustable down to 2.5 lbs., the LXX Trigger’s surfaces are precision
ground, polished, and the overall tolerances refined. Adjustable down to 2.5 lbs., the trigger is crisp and precise.

Like the original Mark V, the New Mark V Accumark is all about accuracy. It comes with a SUB-MOA accuracy guarantee—a three-shot group measuring .99” or less at 100 yards using Weatherby or premium ammunition.

Weatherby also offers the Range Certified (RC) Accumark RC, which comes with its own data sheet from Weatherby’s Oehler Ballistic Imaging System showing an actual three-shot group size and listing exact ammunition used to achieve it. The data sheet will also be signed and certified by Ed or Adam Weatherby, and the rifle will feature a customized floor plate with the Range Certified logo engraved on it. Original Mark V’s are still on the shelves, but Weatherby has already begun shipping some of the new line including the New Mark V Accumark. MSRP, starting at $2,300.
