Gun-Control Group Pumping Money Into Midterm Elections

The gun-control group "Everytown for Gun Safety" is digging into its coffers for the midterm elections, chipping in at least $2 million in Florida to help sway voters.

This likely wasn't news to the giddy recipients queing with hands out to support the group and pocket the money. But it was revealed publicly a day after anti-gun bazillionare Michael Bloomberg was in Florida to drum up support for candidates, show himself off and beat the drum for gun control. Bloomberg is the founder of the Everytown group and a former mayor of New York.

Bloomberg reportedly is considering a run at the presidency in 2020. He is worth about $80 billion. He recently re-registered as a Democrat, but has previously been registered as a Republican and Independent. He visited New Hampshire recently, one of the early bellweather states for elections. Plays the fences well, doesn't he?

According to this report, Bloomberg reiterated a shot at President Trump from a speech at the 2016 Democratic National Convention: “I’m a New Yorker, and I know a con when I see one.”

“Unfortunately, I have been proven too correct. Nothing about the past two years has been a surprise, the mismanagement and corruption, the mistreatment of our allies, the attacks on truth, the cozying up to brutal dictators, the undermining law enforcement. Stop me when you’ve heard enough. This is just ridiculous. None of this has been a surprise. But what has been disappointing is how many Republicans have tolerated it and even supported it.”

As for the Everytown support for Florida candidates, they're using the 2017 Parkland school shooting to bolster efforts. The $2 million is going to three Democrats: gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum, Sean Shaw (attorney general) and Nikki Fried (agriculture commissioner). Bloomberg also is chipping in $250,000 of his own money to Gillum. Those are the main recipients; other candidates also will benefit from Bloomberg's anti-gun largesse.

Florida Sen. Bill Nelson is on the same train and is pushing for a national registry of all gun sales and firearms owners, bans on "assault" weapons, prohibitions for sales to anyone under age 21, and other items on the gun-control checklist.

TownHall.com also reported that Bloomberg is willing to spend up to $80 million "to flip control of Congress to Democrats" and $15 million on the upcoming Midterm election for House of Represenative seats.

When election day rolls around this year and in 2020, things certainly could change. Vote your conscience but, most of all, vote.
