Petty Governor in Liberal State Refuses to Sign Marksmanship Certificates

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has decided that petty politics for votes is better than being an adult about the annual Civilian Marksmanship Program awards.
Petty Governor in Liberal State Refuses to Sign Marksmanship Certificates

It's easy to just whitewash a group as this or that, like saying all of "the media" is fake or all politicians are "crooks" or it must be nice to be a meteorologist and get paid for being wrong so often.

Or that everyone who lives in California needs to just slide into the ocean after a big ol' earthquake. Or everyone in the Southeast wears overalls, strums a banjo and thinks Cousin Susie would make a good wife. Whitewashing and stereotyping isn't cool, y'all.

Washington Gov Jay Inslee.

Good folks exist in different professions, even when the real crooks or jacklegs get most of the publicity. The "one bad apple spoils the barrel" analogy isn't always true, but that rotten apple definitely can throw a taint on the rest of the fruit.

So to say that all governors or politicians are creeps is wrong. But there's one petty goober out in the Pacific Northwest who is a creep and I don't mind saying that.

Here's why, from KIRO Radio:

Back in 1903, there was a group that started in our nation called the Civilian Marksmanship Program. They would get together and have shooting competitions. It was for a while under the auspices of the Department of Defense. Here in Washington, they have a couple of groups that go and compete in marksmanship — the Washington State Rifle and Pistol Association, and the Washington State Police Pistol Association.

This organization always holds an annual banquet, where the top shooters — both civilians and law enforcement officers — are given certificates signed by the governor. Most states do this every year. It’s known as the Governor’s 20.
But this year's ceremony won't have signed certificates for the marksmen. Remember, some of these CMP participants are law enforcement officials. Some of them are teenagers, who are doing the right things in regard to learning about safety along with competition. They're also, of course, learning about petty politics from a goober.
Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has desided to be a big ol' social justice warrior and political creep. Earlier this year he sent a letter to CMP folks saying why:
“The certificates that were signed last May will be the final certificates signed by the governor … Governor Inslee is no longer able to support any program affiliated with the National Rifle Association (NRA), due to the organization’s obstructive efforts to undermine common sense gun safety measures, including those that enjoy broad public support.  We understand competitors will be disappointed by this decision; however, the Governor [sic] believes constructive conversations and meaningful action around gun safety are necessary to better protect our families and communities.”
I'll bet the CMP competitors are in emotional distress and shambles at not having Gov. Goober's name on their certificate. And despite the NRA just providing records certification and being part of the program's long history of safe training, this big ol' governor is taking a stand. Whooo! Big stand!
What a creep.
