Shooting Sports Industry News: Taurus Lifetime Warranty; CMP Registration Opens

Here are some updates and the latest shooting sports industry news:

Taurus has anounced a new Limited Lifetime Warranty that includes certain handguns previously covered under a one-year warranty.

Older models included in the new warranty program include the Taurus G2c, G2s, TH series, Taurus TX22, 1911 Commander, 1911 Officer, Taurus Spectrum, Raging Hunter, 856 and 692 revolvers.

"Customer satisfaction is the ultimate objective in the Taurus mission to provide safe and reliable firearms for personal defense, competition, or recreational shooting," said Taurus President and CEO David Blenker. "Our new Limited Lifetime Warranty backs that mission and ensures confidence in Taurus customers that the company will always stand behind its products and its consumers."

The new Taurus Limited Lifetime Warranty policy warrants to the original purchaser that the firearm was made free of defects in material, function, and workmanship, and promises that Taurus will remedy any defect in material, function, or workmanship for the entire time the original purchaser owns the firearm.

This warranty applies only to the original purchaser of the firearm upon successful and timely warranty activation. It is not transferable to subsequent firearm owners.

To activate this warranty, original purchasers must complete the warranty registration process online at https://warranty.taurususa.com or call Taurus at (800) 327-3776 within thirty (30) days of the purchase date. If activation of the Limited Lifetime Warranty does not take place, a one-year warranty will be in effect.

Original purchasers who own a Taurus firearm covered by a one-year warranty will be covered under this new Limited Lifetime Warranty. No further action is required, except retaining the original purchase receipt for future warranty services.

Ruger's Rogers Top at SASS Winter Range

Team Ruger's Randi Rogers scored a win in the Cowgirl division at the 2019 Winter Range SASS National Championship of Cowboy Action Shooting held at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix.

Rogers, also known as "Holy Terror" in the SASS community, won with her pair of Ruger Vaqueros. She finished 11th overall with a final time of 236.42 while competing against a field of more than 600 skilled competitors.

Winter Range is a six-day event that provides the backdrop for the Single Action Shooting Society's National Championship of Cowboy Action Shooting. The competition tested the shooters' skills against challenging steel targets and extreme weather conditions with 12 different stages laid out in a unique, Old West style.

"In my over 20 years of shooting, this year's National Championship was probably some of the worst shooting conditions I have ever experienced," Rogers said. "We had wind, rain, hail, snow and cold. Despite all of that, it was a great event. The weight of my Vaqueros made them very easy to shoot, as the recoil is easy to control. I know I can count on their smooth actions and unmatched reliability."

Registration Open for CMP at Camp Perry

Registration for the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) 2019 National Trophy Pistol and Rifle Matches opened March 1.

The annual event, held at the Camp Perry National Guard Training Base since 1907, will be entering its second year of enhanced events, featuring original CMP matches and traditional events that bring a fresh generation of competition to the National Matches platform.

CMP’s Smallbore rifle lineup will return to the National Matches in 2019 after a successful first run at last year’s event. The schedule includes a 3x40 with iron sights and an any sights match, a 3x20 team match and prone events. Scoring will be administered in collaboration with Shooters Technology, using a mobile application that will transmit target images via cell phone to the Orion scoring system and allows scores to be compiled before competitors even return from hanging targets down range.

A six-day CMP National Matches Junior Camp, Smallbore & Air Rifle, will also take place and is open to junior athletes who shoot both three-position smallbore and standing or international precision air rifle. Participants must be between the ages of 12 to 20 and must currently be shooting in three-position smallbore competition matches and international air rifle.
